Absolutely lovely this place. Such a beautiful location. The room was lovely with a HUGE balcony. It was quite snug for the two of us and the dog, but it was lovely and cosy, and the bed was so comfortable. It was a little chilly but reception sent up an extra heater and it was super toasty all weekend. We had a lovely meal on NYE. The food there is amazing, the team are so great. They’re a very special bunch of people, led by the gorgeous Beth, who makes you feel so welcome and at home. Everyone there makes you feel like nothing is too much trouble and like they genuinely love being there. The atmosphere is fun and relaxed but still nice enough for a special occasion. The food is so good and chef is very accommodating. Try the prawn pad Thai or the chicken schwarma. We’re already planning our next trip back.

Worst Christmas dinner ever! We've been to the Beach House for Christmas Day dinner for 4 years in a row now, but this year was the absolute worst and will not be returning. To charge £180 for two roast dinners and to have just 1 large carrot cut into two across the plate, and only 4 brussel sprouts and 1.5 potatoes and had to share the cauliflower cheese with my partner and a tiny beef Wellington. When the plate came over I actually didn't even see the vegetables as there was a huge empty space in the middle, it was a child's meal, and I actually asked if there was any veg to go with it. My partner was still hungry when he got home and had to eat something. They even asked if we wanted something for the dogs which when paying the bill had charged me £10.50 for and put it as miscellaneous drinks which confused us as we only had one drink each. They even got my wine wrong I ordered, and they stuck us out in the conservatory which was really cold, and when I spoke to Beth the owner she couldn't even remember me from returning previous years. You always remember your customers that return year after year. This was certainly our last!!

Best hotel I've ever been to. From the blatant incredible effort put in by the staff, to the incredible view. You can really tell that the people running this place know what they are doing. And are doing everything to make this place wonderful. Beth, Mike, jeni and all of the other staff are simply the most welcoming hotel staff I've ever had the pleasure of meeting. The view is incredible, food is incredible, and even on a busy day everyone feels like both a VIP, and a member of the family with the way the staff treat them. 10/10 on all fronts. Keep it up. Rooms: Incredibly sleek and modernistic color choices that make the older building feel new and refreshing. Clean towels, and the use of drift wood really reminds you of how close you are to the sea (if you can't tell from the sound). Nearby activities: About an hour maximum from most tourist attractions in Cornwall. Maybe a tad more if you are looking at falmouth and truro as locations for activities. Food & drinks: Top notch food from some very talented chefs, always the same quality. Very impressed. Noteworthy details: If there is EVER an issue with anything the staff are more than happy to help.

Had our pre-Xmas lunch at Widemouth beach cafe. The food was great and well priced. Excellent and friendly service. Thoroughly recommend!

We visited for food on a Saturday evening in early September to make the most of the weather and had high hopes. The menu looked good, and the location overlooking the beach is amazing. Unfortunately, the whole experience was somewhat underwhelming. Bad points: Service was very slow. Food took an age to come out. White wine was warm. Staff were difficult to identify (some sort of uniform would help) Mains were disappointing. Good points: Starters were good. Cocktails were fun.(if a little expensive) Location is awesome. I'm always keen to support local, independent businesses where I can, and other reviewers have raved about the food, so we will be back before too long to see if this was just a one-off. Hopefully, it was 🤞🤞

Please don’t be put off from the exterior pictures. By the owners admission this place is work in progress. The rooms that have been modernised are great with stunning views of the beach. We had room 7 and loved it as it had a large balcony. Weve just come back from a 4 night stay and will definitely return. The owner and all the staff are so friendly and nothing is too much trouble. We ate here every night and the food is fantastic. The fact that the restaurant side is always booked says it all. Great mix of holidaymakers and locals gave it a great atmosphere. Highly recommended. Rooms: Not all rooms have been updated and are available as a budget option. Worth paying the extra for a balcony - they even let us take up a couple of bean bags from the garden to use.

Nice place to visit once in a while. It's got amazing views and each table has plenty of room to jiggle so you can see the views, or move out of the way of any direct sunlight. Food is great. Service could do with improving... for example: We'd finished our meal, and our large drinks were almost empty. Waitress asked us if we wanted to see the desert menu, which we declined, but didn't ask us if we wanted drinks refilled. (And they like you to order at your table, rather than go to the small bar). Another example: On arrival, there is a desk that you go to be 'checked in' for food (this isn't particularly clearly marked) and the person just pointed to the table on the other side of the room that was reserved for us. It wasn't just us, they did this to each new arrival. It would have been far better if they had taken us over, said a few words, asked us if we knew what we wanted to drink, or whether we needed a moment to look. Food & drinks: Great food, and nice drinks (cocktails! :))

Amazing rooms very neat and tidy but could do with more sockets for changers . Food had good variety of options, loved my fish until turned over and was a goo mess but until that we all enjoyed our food which was the kebab and Sri Lanka curry. Didn't like the political posters on the door not very professional and especially of the Queen not long after her death maybe keep your politics to yourself. Other than that great stay nice breakfast just lay off the politics when people trying to forget the world and enjoy the sea view Rooms: Very tidy , loads of space and nicely done up.
